Boulder County, Colorado Inmate Search

The Boulder County government provides for inmate searches that allow the public to locate people in custody and view their current status within the county’s correctional system. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office oversees the county’s jail population and serves as the primary point of contact for these inquiries.

The Boulder County Jail, operated by the county Sheriff’s Office, is shared by municipal police departments. Some of these departments, such as those in Boulder and Longmont, have on-site holding cells where inmates may be temporarily detained before being transferred to the main County Jail.

The public may view custody and booking details, and court-related information when accessing a Boulder County inmate’s records.

How to Find an Inmate in Boulder County Jail

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the area’s primary law enforcement agency, is located at 5600 Flatiron Parkway, Boulder, CO 80301. The agency maintains a record of all individuals arrested and booked into a detention facility or released from jail. It makes these records available to the public through the online Daily Booking and Listing Reports page.

Individuals can use this system to view details of people arrested within the last 24 hours and those currently in custody at the Boulder County Jail or the Joe Pelle Center. One can also contact the primary detention center at (303) 441-4600 for general information or visit in person at 3200 Airport Road, Boulder, CO 80301.

Authorized individuals may contact the Juvenile Detention Center at (303) 441-3978 for information about minors in custody.

How to Use the Boulder County Jail Roster

Boulder County’s official jail roster, hosted on the Sheriff’s Daily Booking and Listing Reports page, provides three key types of information for people seeking inmates.

The Release report lists individuals released from county custody within 24 hours. Records are refreshed each day, with the previous day’s data replaced by the latest.

  • To view the list of freed inmates for the day, visit the Daily Booking and Listing Reports page and click the "Releases" tab at the top.

The Bookings report, on the other hand, lists people arrested by county or municipal police in the past 24 hours. This and the Release report are non-searchable.

  • To view the daily list of law enforcement arrests, visit the Daily Booking and Listing Reports page and select the "Bookings" tab at the top.

Lastly, the Listing Report is a searchable database of incarcerated individuals or those recently arrested and awaiting trial. Users can search by name to generate a list of matching results displayed in a spreadsheet-style format.

  • To search for an inmate currently in custody, visit the official search website and select "Listing Report."
  • Type a name in the "Search Name" field.
  • The results will appear under "Daily Listings."
  • Scroll the grid for relevant inmate details.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The main Boulder County detention facility uses the aforementioned Daily Booking and Listing Report as its primary roster. It features most adult arrestees awaiting criminal sentencing and those serving court-mandated jail time of up to 2 years.

There is no separate public jail roster for inmates attached to the Joe Pelle Center, the county’s hub for alternative sentencing. Although the facility has its internal roster of inmates on work release, community sentencing, or day reporting, it is not available online. Most individuals housed at the Joe Pelle Center may appear on the county’s main jail roster since they are technically still in custody. The public may contact the Alternative Sentencing Unit at (303) 441-4669 for more information.

Under the Colorado Children’s Code, details of minors housed at the Boulder County Juvenile Center cannot be uploaded to a public roster because these individuals are a protected category. Approved persons (such as a parent, legal guardian, or appointed attorney) can inquire in person or call the facility at (303) 441-3978.

Boulder County Visitation Rules and Schedules

In-person visitation at the Boulder County Jail is currently suspended for the general public, but professional visitors, such as attorneys and clergy, are allowed. The only avenue for general social visitation is exclusively video visitation. Moreover, the facility does not currently allow the public to use the on-site terminals for video visits. Individuals must use their own personal devices to conduct visitation sessions.

Sessions are managed through a third-party provider. Each remote visit is capped at 30 minutes and costs 5 cents per minute. General Rules to access the service include:

  • The public can register on the third-party video platform. Registration requires a valid photo ID.
  • On-demand visitation is not allowed. All virtual sessions must be scheduled. Visits can be booked 24 to 96 hours in advance.
  • An inmate can receive at least one visit per day, up to 14 sessions per week.
  • An individual can book up to 3 visits each week, but not all for a single inmate.
  • Visitation times are flexible and can be morning, afternoon, or evening. Users can select any available slot on the app once an inmate is chosen.
  • Visitors must be logged in at least 15 minutes before visitation begins.

Other rules pertain to general dressing and conduct. They include

  • Full and appropriate dressing is required. Clothes that expose the body or feature gang messages or offensive images are not allowed.
  • Visitors are not allowed to record a virtual session with an inmate. When discovered, the session is immediately terminated, and the individual will be banned from the platform.
  • All visits must be conducted while stationary. Sessions in a moving vehicle or while operating machinery are not allowed.

Mailing and Commissary Information

Boulder County jail provides an avenue for inmates to receive mail and commissary packages from family and friends. Individuals can use the facility’s commissary partner to order gifts, such as food, drinks, and books, for people in custody.

On the partner website, users will need to select their state, choose the jail, and then search for an inmate using a recipient number (Jail ID) or full name. After choosing the inmate from the results, users can shop for commissary items, proceed to checkout, submit payment, and have the items delivered straight to the facility.

Personal correspondence, including letters and approved photos, can be sent using this format:
